Wall Street Technology Association Panel: Blockchain: Can We Trust It? Is it Transformational? What are the Alternatives?

Blockchain technology is complex, but the idea is generally simple. At its most basic, Blockchain is a distributed ledger or database running on many devices and open to anyone, where not just information but anything of value can be moved and store securely and privately.

Blockchain is all the rage in the financial industry lately. This panel will show simply the difference of the current/old state without Blockchain and potential future state with Blockchain for several key financial transactions and then discuss the impact of Blockchain technology and its:

Adoption by financial firms and individuals and the potential disintermediation of trusted, long-term industry utilities, such as exchanges, settlement organizations and other financial firms
Possible transformational effect on financial companies to reduce costs and risks
Current and future alternatives
